What resources do I need?

• One staff member
• Printer – 7 worksheets x 4 sets
• Connect Four game -or some other simple player vs player game.
• Coloured pencils/felt tips, pens
• Blank A4 paper
• A quiet space
• Reward stickers (for the end of each session)
• Stopwatch or timer
• 2 lengths of thread for beads
• A variety of blue beads -you will need at least 10 beads, with pairs of each variety of bead
• A selection of small prizes.
• An organised treat e.g. gingerbread men and writing icing, hot chocolate with squirty cream and toppings.

What’s it about?

The Team UP! resource is designed to support children who, for a variety of reasons, need additional help when socialising or when working in groups. Beginning by exploring and celebrating themselves as individuals, the programme gradually integrates them into a team. It is done in groups of 4 children, nominated by school staff on the basis of who would benefit from the programme – they do not have to be from the same class.

• Total length of programme: 6 weeks
• Weeks 1 and 2, 2 hours per week
• Weeks 3 and 4, 90 minutes per week
• Weeks 5 and 6, 1 hour per week
• Number of participants: 4 children plus 1 member of staff
